NEVER ALONE

Agnes sat on her living room floor staring at the empty box of kleenex. Tissue was everywhere, some at her feet and some that she had thrown across the room. She’d cried until she couldn’t cry any more. Harold had left stating that he didn’t plan to ever come back. Uncertainty crept in and fear showed its ugly head. Questions without answers, how was she going to make it on her own, what was her next step, Agnes shook her head because the answers just weren’t there. Feeling confused, lost, and very alone, Agnes walked over to her collection of records. Picking one out, she placed it on her record player and watched as the turntable began to spin around and around. This song was one that she’d always loved. Turning the volume up, the music blared throughout the apartment. Agnes didn’t care if the neighbors heard for at that moment, she needed God’s comforting touch. Her heart had been broken and she knew that this song, this one special song would help lift her spirits. As she played the song on her record player for the umpteenth time, a smile started to form on her saddened face. Agnes began to sing along, softly at first, then louder as her heart became saturated with peace. Sandi Patti’s soothing, angelic voice penetrated Agnes’ soul and she was comforted by the words.

In His love, there’s no need to hurry, everything’s on time. If your world’s a sea of trouble, you can always rise above, if you know that you are safely in His love.”

As the song kept playing, Agnes knew that she had not abandoned. In that moment, all of her worries seem to lessen. Difficult days would probably lie ahead, but God was with her. Somehow, Agnes knew she was going to be all right, for she was never alone.
