Encouragement

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is life not more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable then they? Can anyone of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

One afternoon a man came to my door and told me he was desperate for work. He told me he was a tree guy. I happened to have two palm trees in the front of my house in need of a hair cut. The man told me he would trim the palms for a good price and I agreed and gave him the work. As he was cleaning up, he noticed he had inadvertently cut down a nest of four baby squirrels. He gathered some nesting material and carefully placed the babies into it. He then took the nest where there was shade by the tree. He explained to me that the mother would come back, hear their cries, gather them up and bring them back to safety, one by one.

How does a squirrel know how to do that? Sure enough, the momma squirrel did come back and take her lost children home. God has even given squirrels the instinct to care and protect their children when they are in trouble, lost, misplaced and crying out. If a tree guy knows how to care for lost misplaced baby squirrels and Momma squirrels how can hear the cries of their children, gather them up one by one and bring them to safety, imagine what God can do.

If you are lost, misplaced, out of touch, worried, in trouble or just feel like there is no hope, cry out, our heavenly Father will hear you and bring you to safety. Remember David’s Psalm 40:1-2 (NIV 2010); I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of a slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. Not only will God take us from these places he will make situations in our lives even better. David goes on to say in verse 3; He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. So go ahead cry out, He will hear you and respond.
