As I lay on the couch after 9 days of sickness, I looked out the window at the snow. There was about 8 inches of beautiful white snow. Untouched, pure snow, waiting for Jessie and Kolby, my husband and son, to get out there and play in it! As I sat there taking in the beauty, a little red bird came and landed on the ledge of our porch. Not just any bird. A beautiful red bird! Those of you who know me, know that red is my favorite color. There sat that red bird with the white snow for its background and as I watched it, it was eating. I thought to myself, what in the world is it eating with the snow covering everything in sight? I told Jessie. He said he had put bird seed out for them. How wonderful for them that Jessie had thought of that. Soon there were 2 more birds out there eating the seeds. Jessie had thought of the birds. My mind instantly went to the scripture in Matthew.

Matthew 6:26
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

You see I have missed a lot of work being sick. Now, Jessie with the snow days and not sure of how many vacations days he has left, of course worry tries to set in. God took the time to show me that beautiful red bird. Just to let me soak up some of His beauty. Then, reminded me that we will be taken care of. Not to worry. Not to put my trust in the things of this world. Not people. Not jobs. Just him! The birds were taken care of and so we would be, by our heavenly father.

I love it when God shows me things like that. It calms me and shows me that He loves me and knows exactly what I am thinking and what I need to rest my weary soul. It also made me realize that I have to take the time to sit at His feet and to take the time to listen to Him. To wait on Him! Forgive me Lord, when I give my time to the things of this world. Life is short and does not need to be wasted, but invested in YOU! Thank you for showing me a small wonder in a little red bird, much needed for a weak body, and thankful for the reviving of my spirit and body. I LOVE YOU!
