Encouragement
There is nothing like getting a phone call or a message from your child, who is in need. They may be sick, hurt, or just struggling. It could be a relationship or a job that have them devastated. Maybe life has just gotten to them and they have held it in, until it just pours out of them and they need to talk.
As a mother, my heart breaks. I received one of those messages this morning. My child was in total confusion and I had no control over anything that was going on. My hands were tied. For a moment, I did not know what to do. I could only give a little wisdom from my experience and try to guide with the best of my ability. Giving Godly wisdom, because that is what works, not mine.
As I sat there and started to think about the situation, I just cried. I held my head in my hands and just cried. Once again, I knew to take it to God. This is a time when only the hands of heaven can direct and guide the path of my child. So I prayed He would place my child where he wants and give favor when needed and help to make wise decisions. This is when you feel totally helpless as a mother. Like when they are small and sick with a fever. They seem so lifeless. Your heart just aches. You give them medicine and take them to the doctor, but it is the Great Physician who ultimately heals them through divine healing, or the doctors. In any case, it was out of our hands.
So it is, as they get older. We have to watch them live life and make their own decisions, whether we agree with them or not. We do all we can, as with the medicine and the doctors. Then, we give them to the Almighty God to do the rest. To heal, provide, protect, guide, direct and draw their hearts to where it needs to be.
Sometimes they shut us out. That is an incredible hurt. They are frustrated and hold it in, or they may be ashamed, or they do not want to disappoint us. Sometimes, I believe they withdraw in to a depression. Regardless of the reason, a mother always wants to hold their child and love on them and reassure them, it will be okay. They just won’t always let us.
At those moments, we just love them. Never ever push them away. If you push them away with harsh words, you may push them so far, they don’t come back without divine intervention of the Lord, which is absolutely possible, with a lot of prayer and healing and showing that child a great amount of love. No matter what they do, they have to live with it. If we don’t agree with it, that’s fine. We make it known, but we
still give them that unconditional love, that the Father above gives us.
As I prayed for my child and the problem, I felt the Lord send peace, in to my spirit. There have been times, when God has spared this child’s life over and over. He has continuously blessed both of my children all their lives. His hand has been great upon them. Why would God not handle this situation, which is not even as serious as some of the other things that have happened before? He reassured me of that.
I had a praying mother, who prayed to God and interceded for me while I was out living for the world. Not concerned with the things of God. Only myself! I was blinded as the song says, I once was blind, but now I see. Praise God for praying mothers. That’s all I know to do. Go to God, fall on my knees, sometimes my face to the floor and pray. Pray until the peace that passes all understanding flows in and I am reminded that God is in control. He loves my child more than I do. My children are on loan from God. They are His.
I hope this encourages someone who needs it. I have had some dark and long nights in prayer for my children. God has always been faithful and showed His wonderful glory in some of the hardest times in our lives. He never changes He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He will do it for you and your children. Cast your cares upon Him. He is so faithful. I must say, God has blessed me with 2 wonderful children. They are the greatest kids. Even the greatest kids have to live in this world and need covered in prayer and by the blood of Jesus. They need the Word of God prayed over their lives. No matter what the need. Trust God. Worry hurts Him. One of my favorites sayings is, If you are Worrying, you are not Trusting. Hold on to that.
Psalm 55:22 Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.
1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding
Matthew 6:34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow,
Luke 12:25 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life ?
Luke 12:26 Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?
Psalm 138:2 I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your unfailing love and your faithfulness, for you have so exalted your solemn decree that it surpasses your fame.
Psalm 143:1 A psalm of David. LORD, hear my prayer, listen to my cry for mercy; in your faithfulness and righteousness come to my relief.
Psalm 145:10 All your works praise you, LORD; your faithful people extol you.
Psalm 145:13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The LORD is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does.
Psalm 145:17 The LORD is righteous in all his ways and faithful in all he does.
