For the Glory of God

Matthew 6:1 “Take heed that ye do not your alms
before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have
no reward of your Father which is in heaven.” (KJV)

Every talent God has given
Must bring praise to Him in heaven.
If that gift reflects on me,
The talent given may just flee.

Preaching, teaching, the songs we sing,
Everyone to Him we bring.
There not ours to bring us praise.
But God’s glory they should raise.

Solos or singing in the choir,
Exalting Him is our desire.
If we steal from God His praise,
It’s a theft that never pays.

It can be hard to shun the light,
But doing so is always right.
If we accept applause from men,
It brings forth pride and that’s a sin.

A talent is a gift from God.
Let it return to Him the laud.
If God receives the praise He’s due,
He’ll give back rewards to you.

Colossians 3:17 “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in
the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”
I Corinthians 10:31 “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever
ye do, do all to the glory of God.” (KJV)
