Why?

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his
only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should
not perish, but have everlasting life.” (KJV)

Why did God so love the world when we’re corrupt at best?
I’ve thought on this a good long while and still it is my quest.
Man rebels time and again and will not hear God’s voice.
Why not just begin again. For sure that was a choice.

If I had some potter’s clay that would not mold for me,
I would toss it in the trash and that’s my guarantee.
Not only did we turn our backs to our eternal loss.
But took God’s gift, His only Son, and nailed Him to a cross.

You may say, “Because of love,” but that gives me no relief.
How can you love a rotting corps that stinks beyond belief?
The vast majority of men could care less of God’s love.
Did they listen to God’s Son when sent from heav’n above?

They would do the same today and as rebels turn away.
They protest a manger scene or cross put on display.
Yet I find no better cause than that you’ve given me.
“For God so loved the world,” and His love is given free.

John 15:12-14 “This is my commandment, That ye love one another,
as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man
lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever
I command you.” (KJV)
