Not By Works of Righteousness

John 3:16-17 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten
Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world
through him might be saved. (KJV)

Our penance for a million years would never cleanse our sin.
Our righteousness is filthy rags. We must be born again.
Nicodemus, a moral man, sought out the Lord one night.
He had tried morality in doing what he thought right.

But Jesus said his righteousness would bring the wrong outcome.
Unless by God your born again you'll not see His kingdom.
Then Christ spoke those famous words that puts it all in one.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son.”

“Whosoever believes in Him shall have eternal life.”
This sums it up for all mankind and ends with God our strife.
There's nothing good that we can do by which we e'er could brag.
God says, the best that we can do is but a filthy rag.

Do not compare yourself tomen, for they are failures too.
Compare yourself to God alone. His righteousness is true.
What we need is Jesus Christ. That's why the Savior came.
Salvation is a gift from God by faith in His Son's name.

Ephesians 2:8,9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves:
it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (KJV)

Titus 3:5,6 “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his
mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;” (KJV)
