They brought their friend who lay on his mat
For months and years not knowing dates
Having heard about Nazarene Jesus
Who preached and proved his Godly power!

They reached a house where Jesus was
Surrounded by teachers and Pharisees
With opened eyes and awe struck minds
They watched the healings of the Lord!

The hall was packed like a haul of sardines
With people listening to what he said
No hope of entry to reach the Lord
But determined to meet him there!

They pushed, pleaded and struggled hard
They squeezed through sides to make a hole!
In vain they stood there pushed by the crowd
But still lingered there some hope of entry!

5They climbed the roof and removed some tiles
From the top they lowered down their friend
And placed him down at the Master’s feet!
A shock to the crowd, but a smile on Jesus!

Jesus saw their faith and love
That brought the paralyzed from above
The faith of the man and the charity of his friends
Moved Jesus to heal him there!

The Pharisees and teachers of Law
Were waiting for a miracle occur
Jesus said, “Your sins are forgiven.”
These words irritated the learned crowd!

“Who is he to forgive sins?
He insults God Who only can forgive”
Jesus told them of his authority
On this earth to forgive sins!

To prove his words, told he to the paralyzed,
“Getup, take your mat and go home.”
At once the man stood before them,
Took up the mat and went home straight!

The man was praising, and his friends joined him
In praising God for His great blessing!
All were filled with a holy fear,
Seeing forgiveness curing the body!

When we intercede or help others
In a true spirit of charity
God will reward us abundantly
And keep us right side on Judgment!
