Poetry
Sitting beside the dumpster
Rain pouring down the slum
Old neon signs on the ground
Buzzing out its final sound
An old man with his whisky
Drinking his life away
On a carpet of newspaper
Of age two days later
The beggar is home
Counting the quarters he gained
His companion is a neighborhood dog
Sleeping by his side like a log
The queens of the aisle
Walked around with a crooked smile
With teeth bulging out in pain
A sorrow without a name
The rats here are lively
Chattering away in the night
Build a nest and a family
Under the rumbles of the city
Food does not cost a penny
On the ground they scattered aplenty
Crows came pecking in hunger
Scavenging for remaining leftovers
Music hovered from a nearby restaurant
The only boredom repellent
Lights glittered from afar
Reflected from a crowded bar
This is home
For the rejected and the discarded
I never felt so alone
At least you will be the least of my problem
You ditched me at the land of the unwanted
Left me freezing from abandonment
Broke my heart into countless fragments
Words lost in sentence
On a rocky cliff
Between two points
I fell
Into the life between the edges
