I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward. (Phil 3:14)
Football players have one thing in mind. Getting the football to the goal line is all they want to do. They are focused on the goal in front of them and not what is behind them. To score points and win the game, they must keep moving the football to the goal line in front of them. They must keep the opposing team from pushing them backwards. It’s all about the goal. Why is it all about the goal? Because it is the only way to win the championship. It is the only way to win all that football has to offer the players.
In our lives we must be the same way. We must be totally focused on the goal. This is where we must ask some questions.
1.What is the goal?
The goal is moving onward with Jesus, or getting closer to Jesus, or having a relationship with Jesus. (Phil 3:13)
2.Why stay focused on the goal?
Let’s read what the bible says about that. “So let's keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us.” (Phil 3:15) There so much that God has for us. But to get everything we must get closer to Him. Look at this: I know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out--plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for. (Jeremiah 29:11 Message) And this: For we are God's [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].(Ephesians 2:10 AMP) God has a good life planned for YOU!
3.How do we stay focused on the goal?
Read the bible. Talk to God as a best friend. Ask Him to lead you in the direction of His plans for you.
Remember with Jesus on your team, you will become the championship player you were called to be.
