Proverbs 20:23
Diverse and deceitful weights are shamefully vile and abhorrent to the Lord, and false scales are not good.
I wasted the first 25 years of my walk with Jesus. I never could grasp at any level that he could possibly love me the way I was. I was a miserable wretch of a man. I was angry, bitter, and spiteful. I was critical, self-righteous, and full of pride. Other than that...I was fine. Part of my misery came from knowing I was saved but not living with any kind of victory. I had been riddle with so much sin in my life, that the enemy effectively hammered me with condemnation. I let condemnation tell me that God couldn’t possible love me the way I was. I let it tell me that I could never be of any real value to God. I let it tell me that I was going to heaven but my life will never amount to much.
Finally at 40 years old I came to the end of myself. I started to read the bible and take it seriously. Once I started to believe Romans 8, my whole world miraculously changed for the great. Yes, I mean great, not just good. I still had sin in my life, but knowing that God, my Father, my Daddy, absolutely loved me, gave me hope beyond measure.
For years the enemy held me back by using diverse and deceitful weights on God’s scale of justice. If you keep hearing condemning statements in your head, read Romans 8. It says: THEREFORE, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live [and] walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the dictates of the Spirit. (AMP) If you keep hearing, “God could never love you the way you are.” read Romans 8. It says: For I am persuaded beyond doubt (am sure) that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor things impending and threatening nor things to come, nor powers, Nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (AMP)
If you are being held captive by condemnation and regret, start reading Romans 8 every day. Then start believing it. When you do you will see God doing a work in you to make you who you ought to be. (1 Peter 5: 10)
