In an article titled, "The Chemistry of Love" author Tracy Smith stated some rather fantastic truths about human love. Most of the people in her article have been married for decades, one couple for 60 years. If true love is really "an eternal mystery," these couples have hold on forever.

According to a study at UCLA "The very sight of a loved one can ease your pain."

In experiments the study found that the touch of the loved one made intense pain significantly less painful. And strangely, a photograph produced the same results, the pain while constant actually hurt less when the person, man or woman, was looking at a picture of the one they had loved for many years.

Anthropologist, Helen Fisher said, "It's better than Tylenol." She concludes that affairs of the heart are often functions of the brain and true love is a powerful drug. MS. Fisher along with Bianca Acevedo and Lucy Brown did brain scans on couples and found the sight of your long-time mate triggers the same brain reactions as new love.

According to author Tara Parker-Pope this info can't save us from heartbreak, but it does teach us the value of love and can help us make better decisions.

Statistically your chances of this kind of love is 1to 5. Not real good odds, but worth considering.

The article also quotes some geezer who states, "The older you get the more you realize how fortunate you are to have your mate." Joyce has preached, even ranted this info to me for years.

Lest you think I am trying out for a "Dear Abe" column, my point in all of this is totally on the power of knowing how to trust Christ can help you to reap all the benefits of divine love in the horrendously tough situations of life. Even when life's pain stays the same, we can, by being aware of his Word to us, that He is near to us and we can in some way visualize Him as with us, though the pain is the same, it does not have the same effect.

Human love made the burning pain in the experiment bearable, so the love of Christ can and does enable us to endure. Simple? No, but it is true.

Paul wrote in part in 2 Corinthians 5:14:

For the love of Christ constraineth us;

" The love of Christ according to the meaning of this verse “holds us together," "Impels us." Is powerful truth to which we MUST return in serious relationships including our walk with Jesus.
