When I Heard, “Sister, God says, ‘I didn’t forget you!’” My Tears Started to Flow…

Like a patient waiting to see a doctor, I was in waiting in line to receive a prophetic prayer. At the beginning, I wondered if this was necessary and how accurate it could be. Finally, after one hour, it was my turn. They spoke to us three at a time, so along with one couple I was sitting across from three young people who were going to prophecy to each of us individually. These young people (1 man and 2 young women) were casually dressed and looked like students. After a brief introduction and a short prayer, they sat quietly and waited for the words. In a few seconds, without laying hands on us, one started to prophecy, and then another one, and then another one. Five minutes passed, and all the words of God were only being given to the couple. I started to get uncomfortable—thinking what if they had nothing to say about me?

So when the first thing they said to me was that God said that He hasn’t forgotten me, I was not prepared to hear that, but my heart leaped and was so deeply touched. God knew my feelings! It is exactly what my heart has been feeling lately, even though I didn’t know what it was. I have seen the glory of God around many believers and wondered where is mine. Now, He was saying, “I didn’t forget you, and all the glory that is upon them will be upon you, too. And I will give it to you. When I give it you, it will be just for you.”

“Sister, I see you are heavily burdened with your son regarding how he acts,” one of them said. Then the first girl asked me, “Do you have a son?” I was astonished and couldn’t believe what I just heard. That is exactly the problem I am facing right now! Just yesterday, I cried out to God for my son. I was helpless and didn’t know what to do. This young girl knew nothing about me, yet she spoke about my core problem. Oh! God’s words are so encouraging, so powerful, so life-giving that I couldn’t help my tears from coming down and down and down. I needed some Kleenex badly.

The girl continued, “Don’t quit! He will act upon your words of prayer. Put on the armor of God to stand firm-- keep standing firm. God will give you strength. Keep praying, even though it looks like it is not working.” At that time the young man saw a dove resting upon my shoulder. I was so overwhelmed at what God had spoken of my situation and while I was pondering those words , unfortunately, I missed most of what she said about my son. But I know it was something good.

The 3rd person, the young man, spoke. “Let go of your son, sister. I see you open your hand and give your son to the Lord.” What a relief to hear this! I really don’t want to handle my son’s problem any more. God is the best caregiver for him. I just have to know what “let go” means. How do I “let go”?

Counseling is good because they help you to identify the problem and give you wise guidance. But nothing is better than receiving God’s word that is quickening to our hearts. His word will get to our inner man and deal with the innermost issue and can get to the place where we don’t even know. His few life -giving words have the power to remove the veil from our eyes and melt our hearts. His quickened words speak more than thousands of instructions and opinions from human wisdom

I have been standing at this crossroads of my parenting for some time and have been trying to figure out which way I should go. Knowing that I am in the right spot, that God is hearing my prayers, and that God is working on my problem, my path in this area has been lightening up. Now my burden is light. I am joyful and feel victorious.

The Bible says that we should desire to have the gift of prophecy in order to build up the saints. What a true statement it is. Amen!

“Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy.” (1 Cor 14:1)
