Are you doing your thing? This is the question experts who are trying to help frustrated men and women ask. It's a good question but one that is misunderstood by most. If you are frustrated because you have never become a hit man character you idolized in a novel or movie, you are better off being frustrated and so are a few others who would have been the victim of your rush at a hit man's idea of success.

Being a successful person has a number of check points along the way and you will save yourself much grief if you take the time to check them out. A noted psychiatrist strongly recommends "gaining a knowledge of societal norms related to your chosen path." The main problem with this formula is that societal norms are often totally out of touch with higher truth. So what is the "higher" norm?

A life lived in harmony with "true" biblical principles.

Easy? Simple? Only a person merely wadding in the ocean of life would think so. In our search for effective living we soon learn, unless we are mindless automatons, that much that is written is done so not with the idea of helping us to become the person the Lord intends and has equipped us to be, but to force us into a mold to please some guru, Christian or otherwise.

My quote today illustrates a important lack in the life of the Christian who is searching for the keys to the dynamic life. Notice this gem by Earl Nightingale:

"Do what the experts since the dawn of recorded history have told you you must do: pay the price by becoming the person you want to become. It’s not nearly as difficult as living unsuccessfully."

This is a grand statement and observably true. On the surface.

In depth it involves answers to more questions than we have room for, one being for the Christian: "Am I becoming the person the Lord wants?" This is the toughest question and it must be answered through prayer, thought and insight from the scriptures. I truly like the truth that paying whatever price is better than merely existing, which is the ultimate unsuccessful life.

The Apostle Paul is a glowing example of the successful life.
