Poetry
I hold my mask up to my face
Hoping you can't see my eyes
My eyes are windows to my soul
Behind them the real me lies
I avert my gaze so you can't see
The tears streaming down
Because you will see the vulnerable me
How do you like me now?
I am a master of disguises
A keen player of stoic
I know what my face reveils
I know how to control it
But there is a crack in my veneer
A pain too deep to hide
No matter how much I stuff the emotions back in
My tears constantly fall inside
My paint is cracking
My mask is slipping
I haven't the strength to hold it up
The Me you see
Is lying on the floor
And the vulnerable me
Stands afraid..
to live
to breath
So tell me how do you like me now?
