"I'm too TIRED!"

[PATIENT SILENCE.]

onto the teriaki rice.)

"40 DAYS?"

[NOD.]

NIGHTS?"

[NOD.]

(Shake scruffy head.)
"That doesn't make
any SENSE."

[PATIENT SILENCE.]

"I HAVE TROUBLE,
NOT EATING... FOR
40 MINUTES!"

"Yes,
Mein kin'der.

[LOVING GAZE.]

"Y'ur not mad at me,
for ASKING THIS,
ARE YA?"

Mein kin'der."

"A PERSON WOULD
BE ALMOST .....
GONE!"
(Shout to the ceiling.)
"....IN A COMA!"

[PATIENT GAZE
UPON QUARRELSOME
CHILD MIXING
CHICKEN TOTS INTO
TERIAKI RICE.]

"NO WAY!"
(Make a face up
at the ceiling.)
(Mouth full.)
"There's.....
no WAY!"

[PATIENT SIGH.]

"After 4 DAYS....!"
(Grimmace.)
"...SOMEBODY WOULD
BE TEMPTED INTO
TURNING STONES,
INTO BREAD!"

"Yes,
child."

"I dunno,
Lord."
(Shaking head.)
(Set a piece of chicken
on the floor.)
"That's just,
a REALLY LONG TIME."

[PATIENT NODDING.]

"Ya know..."
(Watching cat eating chicken.)
(Munch.)
"A PERSON would
end up in the HOSPITAL."
(Sip some root beer.)

HEALTHY PERSON."

[NODDING.]
[SMILE DOWN ON
CHILD WITH HER
MOUTH FULL.]

(Mouth full.)

[SMILE!]

"I just don't SEE IT."
(Look upward.)
(Shake head.)

"I'm not asking
you to see it,
child."

"Huh?"

[QUIET VOICE.]

It."
