THE POET

The poet in me always travels back to my favorite subject
His name is Jesus
Creator of all the heavens and the earth
he came to earth and bled and died
so we could have new birth
He became my best friend
And I wlll serve him until the end

AND

HE HAS THE SWEETEST NAME ON EARTH

My garden was filled with sin and shame
I was just a weed
I was lost in the sea of mortality
As I played life’s game

He found me lost and alone
All my hope was gone
He found me as I was wilting
Ready to die a sinner’s death
Then
I fell in love with that gentle shepherd
And now I am truly blessed

He did not care where I had been
Now I am his and he is mine
His precious blood cleansed me
And now I am whole within

I love him more than words can say
I know his voice and he knows me
I will follow where he leads
Into the narrow path
It is free from fear and doubt
And sets upon a heavenly route

His love I can depend on
He is my favorite valentine
He comforts me with his rod and staff
And loves me all the time

He owns all the cattle on the hill
He supplies all my needs
He watches over my garden
And discards all the weeds

My spirit is resting in his arms
I smell his sweet perfume
All my sins are thrown away
As far as the east is from the west
The sea of forgetfulness ate them up
And now I drink from my Master’s cup

His promises are renewed in the early morn
Cuddled in his arms
I am safe from all alarms

He promised never to leave me
And go with me all the way
In his arms, I can never lose
He holds me close and whispers
“I love You”
