Looking all around,
Proud and mightily,
At those on the ground.
But what of our Father in Heaven,
Is He very pleased,
To teach us a lesson,
To come on bended knees.
Down comes a drop,
And lots more are following,
“My petals will get wet,” we cry,
But more drops He’s allowing.
Now in the rain we stand,
Heads hanging low,
No longer caring,
Or putting on a show.
We had thought we were beautiful,
And realized how ugly we'd been,
We have indeed learned a lesson,
As we reflected on our sin.
Our hearts swell with gratitude,
For the One up above,
For His wonderful lesson,
Sending humility like a dove.
No longer are we proud,
But very beautiful indeed,
Drops glisten on our petals,
No more a proud, ugly weed.
Humble yourself and be lifted up,
Become a beautiful flower in the rain,
Allow God’s loving hand,
To help and ease the pain.
