A silent thud in her soul affirmed that still she was bound.
Darkness engulfed her in this dingy space. The cold bars now a familiar place.
Her mind searches for a time when life was happy and gay… but it seems to have evaporated away.
The shackles hurt her hands and feet; her spirit drunk with the bitterness of defeat
Wanting only to be loved, a valued treasure to be held
Oh that the sun would come and impart; warmth to the deep freeze within her heart.
Just when her hope became vapour borne, the sunshine peeked in on this one forlorn
All at once the ray became a beam was it real or only a dream?
Desperately she reaches for the light hoping it will last
Her fetters merely clatter in laughter as she strains they hold her fast…
Oh God how I long to be free… Oh God please come to me.
Oh to be caressed by the suns warm rays to be encompassed in this brilliant blaze
Ah… the warmth that kisses her toes, hope springs forth as life it bestows
Then she hears it… a clink on the floor… whatever was that… never heard it before!
Looking intently into the light, hardly believing the miraculous sight
The shackles that bound her now lay on the floor not only open but broken to bind no more
The Sun still climbing upward it went…. Oh surely, this was heaven sent!
Over her back, her arms, her hands, as she had hoped loosing the bands
Warming her body reaching her soul… the broken places becoming whole
Her heart now soaring she must have more, feeling loved as never before
Hearing the gentle voice within… “I have come to set you free… come child come to me”
Hands now lifted with a joyful shout; no longer bound she dances about.
Not comprehending fully the freedom He gave, the fullness to which she had been saved
Days become years her spirit no longer glum, Hearing the whispers “by beloved come”
Getting to know Him more each day, in a deeper and fuller way
Peering through the window in the twilight Unaware this cell no longer her plight
Saying good night to her beloved; the Son, waiting expectantly for the new day to come
This night is different not as before, She heard His voice outside the door….
Come my child, come and be free, come climb the mountains Oh come with me
“I cannot go” her immediate reply “the doors are locked even as days gone by”
Suddenly the door swings open wide, “come my child do not hide”
Trembling at this new revelation…wanting to run to Him but there is great hesitation
Still hearing His urgings, His form at the door… Oh how she loved Him she needed Him more
Would she trust Him and take his hand, or stay in safety in this desolate land
Still hearing His voice, she must make the choice
“Come my child, I am waiting… heed my call…there is so much more beyond that wall”
There may be hurts and wounds to bear but also great adventure and many joys to share
I will be with you till journeys end, after all I AM your forever friend
There are others to whom I long to go, others who need my healing
Thinking of the darkness such a foreboding place; could she bring others to see His face
I need a helpmeet would you be mine, forever my love through you let shine
Step out my beloved, freedom I give…Come out beloved and truly begin to live
Would she risk the hurt and pain, not for herself but for others to gain
Knowing her thoughts… a smile danced across His face
She was sure she could see it… could she join the race.
Walking cautiously across the floor, surveying its safety once more
Reaching out to take His hand, such joy such freedom she could hardly stand
She knew there would be hurts, and wounds to bear but also knew that He would always be there
she could reach out to others who where bound she knew their pain and the remedy found.
He says As if answering her hearts cry ”you took the risk You have come through“
“Now help me reach to others who need me too”!
