Attention to perfection
Followed all day
Healing and teaching
That He is the way

Objection to perfection
This Jesus they hate
Wanting to kill Him
They'll just have to wait

Protection of perfection
His friends want Him near
Those that are angry
They hide from in fear

Dissection of perfection
They question in vain
Evidence they desire
They cannot obtain

Predilection of perfection
They hail Him as king
As He enters the city
His praises they sing

Rejection of perfection
Judas gives in
To the call of the silver
He hands Jesus in

Protection of perfection
Peter draws out his sword
He injures a soldier
In defense of his Lord

Rejection of perfection
Disavowing his King
Three times in denial
Till the morning cock sings

Dissection of perfection
They interrogate Him
With false accusations
At last they will win

Insurrection against perfection
Crucifixion they cry
Pilate hands Jesus over
On a cross He will die

Rejection of perfection
Jesus picks up my sin
The burden is heavy
A tear drips down His chin

Rejection of perfection
The blood and the sweat
Mix with the tears
As He marches to death

No longer perfection
God turns His back
On Jesus His Son
And the sky becomes black

Rejection of perfection
Jesus gives up His life
To save me from hell
And to give to me - life

Thought provoking and moving in its simplicity, Rebekah. I especially like how you lead into the last stanza, "Rejection of perfection
Jesus gives up His life
To save me from hell
And to give to me - life" --excellent wording and message.

I don't know if you intended this to be a song, but I could see you turning this into one, Rebekah. God bless you.
Melanie Kerr 11/25/04
The rhyme of the fist lines in each of your verses was very effective.

Rebekah,
Well done. I love your poem. Jesus experienced the deepest rejection. God Bless You.

Creative! The repetition of the words makes a powerful statement. Good job.
