Walking down the path, Susan could hardly believe the beauty all around her. She could see a variety of tall trees and short bushes in different shades of green. Large fields were carpeted with thick lush green grass. With her right hand shading her eyes, she scanned the countryside. To her right, she saw patches of vivid wild flowers in all shades of colors, red, blue, orange, and yellow. Along the edge of the path, Susan saw small, delicate purple flowers mixed with sprigs of green grass. Soaking in the beauty as she walked along the path, she noticed the day seemed to be getting brighter and clearer the further she walked.

Off in the distance, she could see people on the path coming towards her. It was too far to see who they were, but she recognized them as someone familiar to her. Susan didn’t know how she knew this……she just knew.

Susan had been sick for a long time, and tired. Sometimes she felt too tired to get out of bed in the morning. Cancer. At first, the doctors thought she had a pretty good chance of beating it, but the last few weeks were proving difficult. She had lost her mom to cancer several years ago, and last year, Susan lost her younger brother to cancer also. She missed them! But, as much as she missed them, she knew they had gone on to their final reward….heaven.

Now, walking down this path, she felt a peace. She realized, she wasn’t sick at all! She wasn’t the least bit tired. She could walk for hours. It had been a long time since she took a walk, and Susan forgot how beautiful God made the earth. Knowing we would have tough times, God has surrounded us with the beauty of nature, she thought, looking at the landscape with a thankful heart.

As the people in the distance drew closer, Susan felt a joyful anticipation growing within her. It was she, Susan, they were coming to meet. These people knew and loved her. She could feel it! Increasing her pace of walking, Susan continued down the path surrounded by colors and light. Peering further down the road, she wanted desperately to see who these people were coming to meet her.

A few more steps along the path, and she could almost make out who…….it’s momma!……and Ricky! Susan had never felt such happiness in her entire life. She knew then, her journey on earth was over. It was now time for the reward…….heaven.

What a moment that will be when we receive our ultimate reward - just being with the God who created and loves us!
Well done!

Your use of descriptivfe phrases was excellent. I wanted to be there. I had some idea of where the story was going and it left me with a warm fuzzy feeling to know that she was home with God.
