(Written 9-9-04, based on Isa. 55:10-11)

The rain comes down,
As does the snow from heaven;
It returns not, but waters the earth,
Thus making it bring fruitful,
That it may give fruit to the sower
And bread to the eater.

May His word,
As it proceeds from His mouth,
Never return to Him void.
May it accomplish His pleasure,
And prosper in the thing for which He sent it.

Jesus came down from heaven,
Just as the rain;
Though He left, He still remains.
Be as the earth, and receive Him;
Become fruitful for Him,
Grant fruit for this Sower.

May the Word from His mouth
Accomplish His pleasure in you.
May it prosper in you,
As you conform to His image.

Jesus, rain down on us,
According to Your Word,
And by Your Spirit.
Let us glory in being fruitful for You.

Yes, let's pour out that rain on a dry and thirsty world!

"Be as the earth, and receive Him" - that is a lovely line and has a restfulness about it.
