Brings joy to every eye,
The labyrinth of petals,
The fragrance edify.
In living its aroma
Gladdens all who pass,
In dying, with the petals crushed,
That fragrance yet surpassed.
Of only short duration
From bud to full-blown flower,
And yet each stage brings such delight,
And often souls empower.
One life lived for the Master
In every stage delights,
Once planted on earth's fertile soil,
It others' faith ignites.
Its fragrance grows yet stronger
When crushed by grief or pain,
For in life's struggles often find
One's faith and others gain.
Of only short duration,
In life or even death,
Faith's fragrance still will linger on
After one's final breath.
"But thanks be to God! For through what Christ has done, he has triumphed over us so that now wherever we go he uses us to tell others about the Lord and to spread the gospel like a sweet perfume. As far as God is concerned there is a sweet, wholesome fragrance in our lives. It is the fragrance of Christ within us, an aroma both to the saved and unsaved all around us. (2 Corinthians 2:14-15 TLB)
