“I’ve received a request from an Erin Connors,” he said at last, his eyes not leaving the note he held, “sent up to me in heartfelt prayer. A rather interesting girl; wise beyond her years. Erin turns 14 tomorrow.” He shook his head. “Ah, those teenage years that my people have made more difficult than they need to be with all of the outside influences and straying away from my word that they’ve allowed…” His eyes remained on the paper. I remained silent; listening only…intently. I knew his heart was troubled and heavy from what his people had done. Yet, as always, there was one that filled him with hope. Right now, that one was a girl named Erin Connors. I waited to see how I would be involved; why he’d called for me and was telling me her story.
Eyes shining with love, he continued, “Erin has found the beginning of her walk into those teen years to be a difficult time. She’s finding that, although she’s no longer a child, she’s often still treated as one. Yet the adults then turn around and tell her to quit behaving like a kid! She feels confused; unsure of who she is, how to act, what to do. Her feelings and emotions, as she explains them, are “all whacky.”
He paused and looked directly at me. Without thought I straightened to my full height, chin held high, and wings in perfect position. He smiled. I felt his love; warm and comforting, and I smiled too.
“She’s asked for a special angel to walk beside her through these years. She is wise enough to know she needs help. She wants to do it right; to please me.”
Surprised, I touched my heart with my hand. He nodded and continued as if he could read my thoughts. Silly me! Of course he knew what I was thinking.
“Yes, she knows she has many angels about her. She’s been well taught. She knows the word, my word. But she’s asked for a special one to help her, to remind her of who she is in me and to guide her away from the pitfalls and traps of the world.”
I nodded. Again his eyes bore into me. “And yes, you are the right choice. I never make mistakes.” I blushed and looked away. He laughed. “Remind her often that she is fearfully and wonderfully made. Tell her that I have a plan for her, a plan of hope. Whisper in her ear that I love her, and that she is mine in Christ Jesus.”
He hugged me, and as he turned away, I felt myself begin to float. I knew that very soon I’d be standing beside Erin to fulfill my mission of ministering spirit. I wondered if she would know I was there.
“She’ll know,” his voice came to me. I heard his chuckle. I laughed too. I was happy to have been chosen to help Erin in her walk through the teen years. A vision flashed through my mind of what her life would be. I knew it had been placed there by God; a gift to let me know. There would be sweet success for my teen and me.
