It started really innocently. We took a little trip to a conference, had some issues with lack of sleep, the usual conference punchiness.
Here's the inciting incident, the thing that set us on the road to uncontrolled hysterics. I am a klutz. I can't eat or drink without spilling. Unknown to me, I'd filled my big name tag pocket with water, and when I pulled out my paper to take notes a slimy mint flew onto her chair.
We lost it - ping-pong style - she giggled quietly, got herself under control, and then I'd take over the giggling.
The woman on the other side of Michelle was not amused, which only made it worse. Somehow we managed to calm down long enough to exit gracefully.
Michelle is a blast. I love to laugh with her and make her laugh, and boy did I try. I'm sure her favorite was when I slammed into the revolving door. (I did mention I'm a klutz, right?
Michelle even makes learning fun.
But there's more than that. She'll tell me the truth -- even if it might hurt. And we talk about Jesus. She loves Him like I do and somehow that makes our friendship all the deeper.
How about you? Got any friends you can laugh, cry, pray and dig deep with? They are worth the effort. Pray about it. God might have the perfect person in mind for you.
