MY ONE AND ONLY DISIRE

I have no new desire
The same one all my life
I can quickly tell you this
I want to be where he is

My Dad left when I was three
To scout the heavens and clear the trail
His legacy has lived on for many years
Though heart ache, pain, and prayer filled tears.
The wedding supper awaits and I’m so free!
Dad saved a seat especially for me

He left a legacy of faith and hope
Church on Sunday and the golden rule
I spent my life in Dads special school
I had no earthly Father on whom I could depend
So I just had to depend on the King

As a tiny girl, I saw visions of a Father
Who knows me by name
Counted the hairs on my head
Always listens to what I’ve said
In his heavenly kingdom
I’ve staked my claim

I learned that only God can still the storm
From late night to early morn
He’s my refuge and my King
And on him I’ve learned to lean

Every time the storm clouds rise
I bend a knee and look to the skies
My life is blessed because of promises kept
I read the book before I slept

From Genesis to Revelations
He fills my life’s expectations
He’s my Father, and I’m his child
“Oh God, to be where your are,
Is my life long desire”!
