Do you remember your first day of work? Did you feel as though you would conquer the world and in the process make a million dollars? If you are like me, that did not happen. However, something more important took place along the way. You learned there is something more important and meaningful in your daily activities. Life!
You and I have the gift of life. Therefore, we daily teach one another how to love. No matter what we do, we have the task of loving one another through our jobs and through the responsibilities we undertake in our daily tasks.
We each have a job whether it is to stay at home with our children, to teach in a school or to work 9 to 5 in an office or so many other areas. In our jobs, we encounter a variety of people during the day. Our utmost responsibility is to transmit the love of God to everyone we meet. Our responsibility is to transmit the gift of peace to our families, to our fellow employees and to the man or woman we pass in the street.
We each have a job to perform during the day - or night. We must see that certain tasks are accomplished with knowledge and perseverance. We must also focus on the responsibilities of our daily jobs in order to provide for the welfare of our families.
However, the greatest responsibility we have is to transmit the gift of love to one another. Would it hurt to be kind to the person sitting next to you at work? Would it hurt to be kind to your boss, even though you did not get the raise or the day off you wanted? Would it hurt to hold the door for the man or woman behind you at the store? Did you ever smile at a stranger? Did you receive a smile in return? It is a wonderful feeling when you give - and receive - love.
