They both decided to go out to eat on Abella's first night in the USA. Kari thought she would treat her guest to American food at J. Daniels Restaurant.
The hostess commented on how both of the girls looked alike, because they both had the same facial features, when she took them to the booth. Both girls had brown short hair, although Abella's was curly and Kari's was straight. Abella spoke good English
ut had an accent and could be hard to understand sometimes. Kari could speak French but did not have a heavy French accent like Abella.
Abella got this confused look on her face when she asked, "What is Filet Of Beef ten-ten-tender -Tendeloon," as she had trouble pronouncing the word.
"Tenderloon?" Kari said. She had a confused look on her face because couldn't understand what Abella said.
Abella had this look in her eyes that showed she concentrated on what the menu said and repeated, "Tenderloon, Tenderloon,"
Kari squinted, As her eyes were racing up and down, as she was studied the menu, and hoped to figure out what Abella meant.
"Do you mean Tenderloin?" questioned Kari as she looked up at Abella.
Abella quickly sat up and looked over her menu and smiled, "Yes."
"Oh, that is a steak. It has mashed potatoes, vegetables and a roll that comes with it," said Kari looked up and returned the smile.
Kari paused for a minute and asked, "Does that sound good?"
"I don't know," said Abella as she now had this stressed look on her face, because she felt pressured to make a decision. She did not want to embarrass herself, because she did not know what she was doing.
"How about a vegetable plate? It has mushrooms, peppers, sweet red onion, asparagus and multigrain pilaf," asked Kari.
"What is multigreen pilaf?" questioned Abella.
"That is Multigrain Pilaff which is actually a bread," said Kari.
Not wanting to delay any longer Abella said quickly, "That would be fine."
"Ok, when the waiter comes back we will order that," said Kari.
As Abella spent more time in America she started to feel more comfortable and more confident when she went out to eat.
