The situation looked promising but no one would utter those thoughts. The FBI, CIA and other intelligence operatives hadn’t figured out who was responsible for toppling America and without any information, no one was willingly to make predictions one way or the other. There were ideas in certain circles and conspiracy theories had traveled their way around the world. Still the general public was unaware of any truthful news, so they waited patiently until today. The hum of the streets was as loud as a locomotive. Each and every greeting was buzzing with anticipation.

“Good evening citizens; your ruler.” He was a lady.
She had been in power since the first day of the last day of America. The chaos in the street was troubling and putting together an election was next to impossible and never came to fruition. It was not understood just how this woman came to be appointed ruler. Fear was running thick through the hearts of all Americans, but everyone had tried to stay calm. The answers announced this evening were hoped to put away the rumors once and for all so people would be able to breathe again.
She seemed tall and dark skinned. “As you might expect, I have been busy preparing for this evening. We are fortunate to have television airwaves so that I can deliver this important message to you tonight. “ The pause she took left a hollow silence and then a quick drink of water. You couldn’t see exactly where she was: The White House, the Pentagon, or the Chambers of Congress? “A new age has dawned. I’ve been selected to lead us into what many believe will pull us out of the rubble and pave the way for a unified world government. That is my purpose tonight. To lay out the framework for how our world will proceed from this day forward. We are no longer the United States of America, France, England or even North America, Europe and Africa. Our world has finally transformed into a global union and during your busy days, fulfilling your tasks, the UN has been putting together this framework. The constitution and bill of rights are no longer valid. Nor any other governments past design. They have been obliterated and are a thing of the past. We must look forward as a United World Organization that considers every person a brother and sister. I, together with the UWO, will take charge from this night onward. “
With that, the television went blank. No one moved. The air was still. The wind that would come tomorrow would not be a gentle breeze. Everyone huddled silently with arms embracing each other till the sun rose the next day.
The television screen would come on and off periodically over the next few months with information. Houses became prisons as no one was allowed to talk to their neighbor. The streets were filled with tanks and soldiers began questioning and filling people’s minds with propaganda and laws that needed to be taught to the masses. Food was rationed along with water, electricity and clothing. Those who tried to escape were shot on the spot. What had seemed so real and alive years ago, was just a dream because as reality set in, it seemed that life had all but disappeared.
