My life is not what I desired
My feet pound the pavement
Stride after stride
Sweat dropping, body now tired
Why does life hurt so deep and so long
Why can’t I just let it go
Others seem happy
And I’m so confused
Feeling so lost and unknown
Step after step I’m further away
But what has my running achieved
I slow up my pace
I turn to look back
And nothing but dust is now seen
Standing alone disgruntled, confused
I kick up a pile of dust
It rises unsettled
And drifts to the ground
Reminding me why I can trust
God formed my being from the dirt on the ground
He is the Author, Creator, and King
I’ve been unhappy
Satisfaction unfound
Because I made it all about me
Reaching and sifting this dirt through my hands
Tears start to run down my face
Lord, I am sorry
For drifting so long
For taking for granted your grace
Rising with newness, I run once again
Now with a heart that is free
My feet hit the pavement
Stride after stride
A rhythm of love for my King
