Faith is not a trophy
To be placed on a shelf
To be looked at and admired
Pontificating oneself
Faith cannot move
Of its own volition
As a sword it is drawn
And swung with precision
Faith is not a sword
But the will to grasp it
Faith should not be questioned
But, answers when asked of it
Faith does not harm
But is sharp, never dull
Faith is a glass of water
No matter how full
Faith is a bridge
Spanning doubt over fear
Paved with words spoken
If any have ears, let them hear
Faith is unreasonable
Dogmatic and stubborn
Faith steps out of the boat
And is not moved by what’s sudden
Finally I see Faith is a tree
Rooted and grounded in word
Nurtured and cared for through hearing
And not on what was heard
