A pearl is something of great value that is treasured. We must be careful how and where we cast our pearls because they may not be appreciated. Some receivers may resent the pearl and the one who gives the pearl. Often they will reject them and attempt to get others.
Abraham did not tell Sarah of his plan to sacrifice, her son, Isaac to the Lord. If told, she would not have accepted it and would have attempted to persuade him not to make this sacrifice She would have deemed him crazy.
We should remember everyone is not ready to eat the meat of the word. Some people remain on the milk of the word and should not be fed meat. To feed them meat might cause them to reject the food and eventually starve.
I often reflect on my earlier zeal and desire to evangelize. We often met on Saturday evenings and would go from door to door and knock. We attempted to tell those who answered our knock and opened their door about Jesus. One night we knocked on a particular door. Although the individual was slow in answering the door, she eventually opened her door. When she opened the door, we told her we wanted to tell her about Jesus. Her response was “she was doing fine until we knocked on her door”. She immediately closed her door. I secretly began to laugh.
We would often stop people on the street and ask them “Do you know Jesus, Are you saved? I no longer do these things. Rather, I wait until an opening appears in a conversation. Then I mention Jesus.
I now realize that my life is the best testimony. My life is the only testimony some will read.
