Dear friends,
Every winter, I like to put snowflake decals on my windows. This is a throwback to my years as a teacher. Before adding snowflakes to the decor, making sure the windows are clean is a must.
When I was a little girl, there were no paper towels. My father was the window washer in our family. There were 7 children in our family, and my father knew how to delegate. Once he got the windows clean with a mixture of water, vinegar and liquid soap, he enlisted our help in drying them. To dry the windows, we used old newspapers. I cannot explain how this process works, but I do know that the combination of newspaper and a little elbow grease made our windows sparkle.
Just as I cannot explain what makes this cleaning process work, I cannot explain the miracle of the transforming power of God's love. It is amazing how God can take a filthy heart, and apply just the right amount of caring and conviction to get rid of the dirt. Then, he applies the right amount of pressure to make a transparent surface through which His light can shine.
As the new year approaches, we often look back to where we have been. Then, we look forward to where we want to be. When you go to the Lord in prayer, thank Him for the cleansing power of His love, and ask Him to move our church forward with the light of his love shining through every leader, staff member, and young person. Pray that the person, who has been chosen to be our new pastor, will see that light and want to go forward with us.
In the light of His transforming love,
Carmen
