1 Corinthians 1:1-9 – Exercising Spiritual Gifts
Vs 1 –9 – Encouragement of Paul – blameless and walking in His giftings.
V5 – that in everything you were enriched in Him, in all speech and all knowledge.
V7 – so that you are not lacking in any gift, awaiting eagerly the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
V8 – who shall also confirm you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Paul was always greeting his readers with thanksgiving, for he bestowed upon them the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, which was given to them by Jesus Himself (v4). In almost all of his letters, Paul never failed to address his readers with thanksgiving and extolled them to the Lord. He blessed the Corinthians that they were enriched in Christ, in all speech and all knowledge, not lacking in any spiritual gifts, and awaiting eagerly for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We as believers are bestowed with spiritual giftings, using and exercising it for the glory of God. 1 Cor 14:1 earnestly asked us to desire and ask for spiritual giftings. It will help and strengthen the body of Christ as we have a fresh revelation of Jesus Christ each time we operated and moved in our giftings. We were enriched with Him in all things as the Holy Spirit will reveal things to us, and strengthen and encourage us in everything that is good in Him. Paul knew how to encourage and strengthen the body of the believers, as he knew that in everything, they shall be confirmed to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Paul was encouraging and asking them to grow up in the Lord, operating in their God-given gifts and walking blameless in Him and in the knowledge of the Lord. All in all, God is faithful, as He has called us to the fellowship of His Son Jesus, that we may be found faithful in serving Him.
Are you operating in the spiritual gifts that God has so graciously given to you? Do you feel strengthened by the body of Christ that encourages you? When was the last time you prayed over someone? Are you using your gifts or it stays dormant? You are responsible to use your giftings for God’s glory and are you exercising that right now?
Verse nine says that God is faithful to us; are we too been found faithful to fulfill His will? Be encouraged that God is watching over you. Fulfill your high calling and exercise all your gifts for the glory of God.
