Testimonies
And behold,
there was a great earthquake;
for an angel of the Lord
descended from heaven
and came
and
rolled back the stone,
and sat upon it.
[Matthew 28:2]

"Resurrection's a big
word, Lord."
[SILENCE.]
"What does It MEAN,
anyway?"
"Tell Me, child."
"Huh? Well.....I think
it's a CATHOLIC word,
isn't It?"
[PATIENT SILENCE.]
"Yeah; my bout with
Christianity all started
back at St. Raymonds,
Lord."
"I know, child."
"That's where I first
heard that word, Lord;
it was from the little
Catholic kids."
[NOD.]
"To be honest,
it didn't really
mean anything to me:
just somethin' to do with
the Catholics...and,
it was kinda SPOOKY."
"Tell Me."
"Well, that's about
it, Lord.
(Squint.)
That's about it."
[PATIENT SILENCE.]
"It was some big,
scary word. It had
to do with death,
and saints, and
like, ghost stuff."
"Tell Me, child."
"I don't really like the
word, Lord."
"Why."
"Well, 'cuz it has
to do with EASTER?"
[NOD.]
"Why is that, child."
"I don't know;
when I was a kid,
nobody really explained
it to me, but I just
know it was somethin'
really, really bad."
[SILENCE.]
"All I knew:
something really bad
happened on Friday,
and then - puff! -
on Sunday all the
Gentile kids
were wearing
new CLOTHES!
And, carrying
pretty BASKETS!
(Squintful silence.)
That was about IT!"
[GENTLE SMILE.]
"You know what I thought,
Lord: that EASTER
was around the
same time as PASSOVER,
because it was just
easier to have the 2
holidays together!"
[SMILE.]
"Yeah; I thought it
was just easier to have
both holidays in the spring;
that way everybody could
take the same week off."
[PATIENT NOD.]
"Somehow, both of
us kids knew it
wasn't polite to talk
about it: why WE
celebrated Passover,
and THEY celebrated
Easter."
"Yes, child."
"That was just the
way things were, Lord."
"Yes."
"So, nobody ever told
me about it."
"Yes, child."
"So.......maybe,
You can tell me
about it, now."
[ARMS OPEN WIDE.]
"Listen, child.
Just listen."

Do not be afraid;
go and tell My
brethren
to go to Galilee,
and there
they will see Me.
[Matthew 28:10]
