Encouragement
(written 9-24-03)
"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matt. 11:28-29
You are aware of burdens that come upon you accordingly. Burdens that seem to come with the life you have. Burdens of childcare without a mate to help, burdens of others in church that are not of the Lord (which reflects their immaturity) and burdens from impossible taskmasters (which reflects their blindness.) I believe the Lord leaves these in their place to remind us of our dependency upon Him-to show us, over and over again, to "Come" to Him. Read the first three words with a fervent voice and you may see His heart yearning to have you solely depend upon Him.
I know who I'm talking to. I know you know all these things. I oftentimes need to be reminded of what I already know. You want to spend time with the Lord, but that is nothing compared to how much He wants to spend time with you. Why else would He die for you?
Plus, in spending time with Him He has a surprise for you, one of lightness and easiness. This is the love of God, that we would be free from care because the Son's Father has made us His responsibility. Is not the Creator responsible for the creation? Are we not the pinnacle of what He has made? We were made in His image.
Finding the right church or situation, job or spouse will never happen. If we found one that was great in all ways, would it/they really accept us? Yet we didn't find the perfect God.
He found us.
The Lord says the verses above not just to us but also to those who labor and are heavy laden with self-righteousness and sin, the ones who try to burden us with their poor concept of right and wrong.
So my hope is that you are heeding His call. "Come" to the Lord and after you have been with Him for a while, go to the church He wants you to be.
My hope is that this lifts burdens from you and provokes worship in your heart to Him. Be blessed in anything He says to you through this.
