Some Wrong Concepts About Success

Let me share with you some wrong concepts we always hear from people about what success is.

1.) You cannot be successful because you're poor.

The world is filled with examples of successful people who rose from poverty and limiting environments. It shows that success is merely a matter of really desiring it and working for it.

2.) Successful people need to have school diplomas and degrees.

True education is not measured by a formal academic degree. Microsoft computer billionaire, Bill Gates, is a Harvard U college dropout who became very successful by being truly educated in the real world.

3.) It's only success if you make a lot of money.

Money is just one of the benefits of success, but it's only secondary. Rockefeller and a host of others had tons of money but they never experienced real peace and fulfillment in their lives. Quite many of the world's successful people in the annals of man's history have little money.

4.) You have to be recognized by people before you can be called successful.

The fact is even if you're the only one who know of the good deeds you accomplished, you'll still be successful. You'd be rewarded by Someone who knows you better.

5.) If some people help you, you're not succesful.

Look at the lives of successful people. Their success rarely happens without people around them.

6.) You've got to be lucky to be successful.

No such thing as luck, friend. Success is a matter of knowledge, application, work, and character.

7.) You've got to follow the rules to be successful.

Each situation is different. At times, following rules or expectations from society will lead to success. At other times, making up your own rules is what's required to pursue success with integrity.

8.) Successful people don't make mistakes.

Successful people are also human beings like us. They make mistakes and are not afraid to make them. They're just good in not repeating them.

9.) You've got to work from the 9 to 5 or hold a job in the office to be successful.

According to world statistics, thousands today become rich working at home and running their own businesses. Most of the wealthiest people in the world never became employees. It's not really a matter of putting in more hours a week or working in an office. It's more about doing the right things!

10.) Once you reach success, you won't have any more problems.

You are not God. Yes, you may be successful, but you're still a human being that will always encounter problems. You have an end, not just a beginning. You better be sure what kind of success you're aiming for.

Angelo,
Excellent commentary on a popular subject. Too many folks guage their success by measuring the reaction of others. They lack goals and fear other's opinions.
Albert Schweitzer and Mother Theresa were highly successful people with personally defined goals and an unflinching determination
to see those goals realized.
Few people have made the committment mentally and emotionally that defines their lives. Only with that 100% sustained effort can anyone truly understand or appreciate the capacity for greatness that is inherent in each of us.

The opinions expressed by authors do not necessarily reflect the opinion of FaithWriters.com. This is especially true with articles that deal with personal healthcare and prophecy. We encourage the reader to make their own decision in consultation with God, His Word, and others as needed.
