Marriage
While out on my walk early this morning, I came upon an unusual sight, when I turned the corner to get away from the traffic, I saw a repair zone right in my way.
There were large signs being constructed there, saying "Road Closed - do not enter" and trucks and men and equipment all around - major repairs were afoot, that was clear.
I threaded my way through, for they had not yet begun, but it was for sure that on my way back I would have to find another way around, this one was closed for the day.
So on the way back, to get around to my home, I had to cut through to another street, and come back from the opposite side, knowing the work zone wasn't clear.
It made me think of my life way back when, before Jesus ruled in my heart, it was like that street, full of potholes and ruts, it was not safe to go within I tried to fix it, using up all of my strength, and that is when I knew that it would take someone better than I to make this street like new.
I looked up, and to my surprise, I saw the Master Builder standing next to me and He smiled and said 'I heard this small voice in your heart calling out to be set free - and if you'll let Me, I'll move right in, and the changes will be incredible to see.'
I did say 'yes' and Jesus was as good as His word, He put up signs all around my heart that said 'This heart is Mine, and being transformed - nothing else is allowed in here.'
And transform He did, He made the road smooth, for He didn't repair, He replaced - and the road that had been in such miserable disrepair, was now full of His love and grace.
Once my heart was re-made, and safe in His keeping, He had many more blessings in store; I had peace through life's storms, joy in its pain, how could there ever be more?
Oh, yes there was more, for God knew me so well, He knew the wish I wanted to come true, and He delighted to find the one and only perfect match, and my wish was granted when He sent me you.
Now we face life together, hand in hand at the start of each day's road it doesn't matter if it's wide or just a path, for we know that whatever the obstacles there, together we'll overcome, for Jesus is in the lead.
And I thank God for His transforming grace, that made my heart brand new, and opened the way to such joy and happiness, I have that each day, because I have you!
