Muddled Footsteps

I walk this dusty roadway,
visibility is vague,
missteps and transgressions crop up along the way.
My footprints are imperfect,
cause slip-ups to be displayed,
I plummet off track,
as the light opens to another day.

I strive to hop back on the trail,
I'm tested and tripped up now and then,
crippled by my mistakes -- I can never win.
I'll give in and lose my footing,
plunge off the tracks again,
try to hold on but I lose my grip,
and the devil marks a win.

I have a talk with Jesus--
I believe in Him,
I know he gave His life for me
and my heart He will mend.
He'll put me back on track
and give me my chance to win.
