1: “GOD rules. On your toes, everybody! He rules from his angel throne--take notice!” - God is in charge!
3: “Great and terrible your beauty: let everyone praise You! Holy. Yes, holy.” – God is Holy. When we think of Him our hearts should burst with praise because of His holiness.
4: “Strong King, lover of justice, You laid things out fair and square; You set down the foundations in Jacob, foundation stones of just and right ways.” – Creator God has been at work throughout the history of mankind establishing a foundation of justice and an atmosphere of love.
5: “Honor GOD, our God; worship His rule! Holy. Yes, holy.” – We say again; God is Holy.
6: “Moses and Aaron were His priests, Samuel among those who prayed to Him. They prayed to GOD and He answered them.” – He answered, He led, He cajoled, and He transformed their lives into a holiness of His creation.
9: “Lift high GOD, our God; worship at His holy mountain. Holy. Yes, holy is GOD our God.” – Everything is Holy that is from God.
Points to Contemplate:
Do you tremble before God?
The psalmist suggests that we should lift God out of the routine, everyday aspects of our lives and focus, instead, on His great and awesome name. Do you tend to take God for granted? Have you shelved Him into the mundane and boxed Him into the run-of-the-mill? Or are you in awe of His Holiness with your every breath? Do your thoughts of His magnificence coupled with His love for you cause you to tremble?
Are you Holy? Is everything that God creates Holy? As you look at the foundations of the world and as you evaluate everything God has created do you perceive His Holiness? Like an artist whose style and flair is uniquely visible in every painting, do you sense the essence of God in all things? Do you feel His essence in you? Are you able to accept His love and allow Him to make you Holy?
Do you honor God? Do you worship Him in everything you do? Can you see that the more you recognize His presence in every detail of your life the more you will find ways to worship Him? Can weeding the garden or doing the laundry become acts of worship? If your thoughts are focused on Him and if you call out His name, can you see that He is available and active in the middle of whatever mundane task you might be performing? Spend some time today discovering how you might honor God in new and different ways.
Does God answer your prayers? Have you called out to Him? Do you seek His guidance in everything you do? Are you truly praying or simply going through the motions? Does prayer require some special skill, talent, or gift? Do you need to learn how to pray? Or is it simply conversation? Can you talk to God in the same way you talk to your friends at work? Can you simply turn to Him in the middle of whatever you are doing and say: “God – what do you think?” Promise of the Gospel:
God is Holy! God is Holy! As we recognize who God is and as we lift songs of praise to celebrate His love, we begin to tap into His Holiness. Even though we exalt Him and can view Him on His golden throne, we also learn to recognize that He is readily available whenever we need Him. We call out His name and He answers. We seek answers and we find that He has established a firm foundation of truth. He towers over us and yet, lives within us. The more we turn to Him in the middle of our everyday moments we find that He is transforming us into His likeness. God is Holy!
