When Jesus left Judaea there was some contentions about how many disciples that he versus John had.
He departed again into Galilee, but he must needs go through Samaria for a divine appointment he had.
The Lord leaned on Jacob’s well, being weary around noon, while his disciples went to town to buy meat.
Then cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water, The Lord Jesus asked her for a drink, while resting his weary, lovely feet.
This startled the woman, so she asked him, why are you asking water of me, for you are a Jew?
She did not realize at that moment she was speaking to the Water of Life, and she was appointed to be one of his chosen few.
Jesus spoke with her of Living Water that he had, that if she or any would drink, they will never thirst again.
It makes no difference if it is a Master in Israel, an adulterous woman, or as I, drowning in the depths of iniquity and sin.
This sparked her interest, so she asked him, Sir, “give me this water that I thirst not, neither have to come hither to draw”.
The God of Order first addressed her sin, for the Law is a Schoolmaster, he pointed her to her guilt of breaking God’s Law.
She then perceived him a Prophet, she mentioned that Messiah would one day come and teach them God’s decrees.
She doesn’t know but she is very close to eternal life, as Jesus now speaks plainly, I that speak unto thee, am he.
Jesus told her that whoever drinks out of this world’s cisterns, will drink, and drink, and shall ever thirst again.
Man in an unconverted state is drawn as one that is lost in a vast desert, to a clear flowing river to iniquity and sin.
The woman now leaves the old water-pot behind, she is now unshackled from the sin that had for a long time had her bound.
She has now experienced being a new creature in Christ, her feet now for the first time standing on Solid Ground.
Now that she has a new Master, she flees to the city to tell others there, of the Living Water that has now set her free.
Her testimony was so shocking, and sincere that many people of the city believed and came out for themselves to see.
I was very much like this sinful woman, drawing from the deep well of this world, living, but I was condemned to die.
Not knowing, or caring that Burdens are lifted at Calvary, I cared not that for my sin the Lord was crucified.
But the Lord, who’s compassions fail not, came to me in power, revealing himself to me one dark September night.
He drew me with the cords of his love, out of complete, utter, darkness into his wonderful saving light.
I was at that moment made willing in the day of his power, no longer destined for a life of misery, and defeat.
For as parched, and dry as I was, The Lord in lovingkindness, reached down and gave this Living Water also to me.
