It is time for all students and parents to stand up to the public schools in America. Islam is being promoted in the classroom and in class assignments. At the same time it appears that many principals and school boards are turning a blind eye. While it is legal to teach about religion in a class on world religions, for example, or as part of the study of a particular culture, it is not legal to single out a particular religion to the exclusion of all others and promote it in the classroom. That applies to Christianity as well. This, however, is exactly what is being done in the public schools of America.
Here are several recent examples, and these are NOT isoloted cases.
* A geography teacher at Riverheads High School in Agusta County, Virgina, used a lesson plan callling for the writing out of a Muslim article of faith in calligraphy. Parents were so angry that the entire school district was shut down. Good for these parents. The district issued a statement emphasizing that "...no lesson was designed to promote a religious viewpoint or change any student's religious beliefs..." Oh, really? If this is not promoting religion in the classroom I don't know what is. The lesson plan could have easily used something else as a model for practicing calligrahy.
* In Massachusettes students went on a field trip to a Mosque, where they reportedly were exposed to propaganda and participated in Islamic rituals. Students don't go to Christian churches or Jewish synogogues for field trips.
*Seventh graders in Tennessee were made to write, "Allah is the only god," and to write out the Five Pillars of Islam. It is reported that they were also required to memorize the Islam Conversion Creed. You wouln't find any schools making students write out and memorize the Ten Commandments, or saying "Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life."
* In Blaine, Minnesota, students sang a song in their Christmas program with the words, "Allah hu Akbar," in a sallute to Ramadan, while Concord Community Schools in Indiana were ordered by a court not to include any reference to Jesus' birth because it might send a message that a "particular religion is favored or preferred."
What is happening in our schools is only a small snapshot of what is occurring all across America. There is a catering to Islam while at the same time Christianity is being denounced, in our colleges, in goverment, in organizations and businesses, and even in our court system. The schools are indoctrinating our future leaders. The same thing will occur that has happened as a result of teaching evolution to the total exclusion of creationism. Students will grow up thinking that Islam is the "accepted' religion.
Radical action like that in Virginia may be required. Schools are not only indoctrinating students but violating the law. Parents must stand up boldly against teachers, administrators, and school boards. They are accountable to the parents who pay their salaries. Maybe closing schools for a day and losing tax revenue is the only way they will listen.
