Christian Living
An Uphill Solution To A Downhill Experience; Live The Gospel
Our glance here is a look at our lives, not only being a testimony, but also producing fruits in the lives of others, by how we ourselves manufacture God’s fruits, by how we live. It’s not enough just to read them off the page, but we have to live those fruits.
Also by living the gospel.
Our body is styled in the form of a tree. It’s started with a seed, it takes root, it has a trunk, and then branches, and it produces fruit. Just like a tree we are styled in like manner. We are a seed that takes root and grow into a body, branches of arms and legs and we produce fruit. For that fruit to develop and mature, we also must nurture it. We must water it and give it the right amount of fertilizer, so as our spiritual fruits, they must be nurtured with the study of the word, prayer, fasting, and a submitted conscience of the fruits of the spirit. In exhibiting these fruits, we want to always be mindful to have the same mind one toward another, minding not high things but condescending to men of low estate.
People our foundation must be sure. The word fruit is significant for three reasons. It means the result, the product, the outcome, or effect produced in the believer’s life. Unlike the gifts of the spirit, every Christian must possess the fruits of the spirit. God gives the gifts of the spirit to each individual differently. Everybody doesn’t possess the gifts of the spirit but every Christian must possess the fruits of the spirit in their lives.
In Galatians 5:19-21 the fruits of the flesh are listed. Every person born in this world is capable of performing those fruits of the flesh because they aren’t learned, but we were born in sin and shapen in iniquity. But only God gives his spirit and his fruit comes only through God producing them in our lives. Our Christian character is a result of Christ living in us. Christians have to let God develop character in them. Your fertilizer consists of prayer, the prayer that you offer up daily, the reading of the word everyday and being submitted to God. You have to guard your heart and mind. Your heart and mind are the blossoming fruit of the tree. If you don’t watch out, someone will steal you off your tree, eat you up, and spit you out. That’s all your fruit will be, waste. You have to guard your fruits, you have to watch over them, and you have to protect them, prevent entrance and exit of certain things. The fruit of the spirit is put on trial when you have confessed to have them in your life, get ready to go through the test. You need a guard to stand watch in the house of where the spirit dwells to protect the fruit and that house, that tree is our body. We have to be rooted and grounded in the truth that these fruits will be productive in our lives. Hang out with folks that reverence God. It’s more costly to be spirit minded than to live in the flesh, but it’s our job to crucify the flesh anyway so we don’t mind giving it up. Don’t you know that we are more spirit than flesh, and if we only feed the flesh, then the spirit is dying daily? We have to feed the spirit of God in us that we may have fruits growing in our lives every day. We have to live the gospel.
Romans 8:7 tells us that the carnal mind is enmity against God and not subject to the law, the spirit and the flesh have mutual dislike of each other. The spirit hates the flesh and the flesh hates the spirit. So you can’t yield to both. You have to yield to one or the other and to grow spiritually means to die to the flesh. They that are after the spirit, mind the things of the spirit and they that are after the flesh mind the things of the flesh. If you keep it in your mind that I am going to be mean and ugly instead of being kind and good, then you will be mean and ugly. You cannot even please God in the flesh. You owe nobody anything but God, for God sent his son and his son paid it all. He paid it all for you. When the fruit of the spirit is alive in your life, you don’t mind making an offering of sacrifice to God.
Now an offering is the act of presenting something acceptable unto a worthy receptacle. You can’t make an offering of something you don’t want yourself. You don’t mind going where God say go. Showing forth the fruits that is exhibited in your life and do what he say do. You don’t take the wrong folks with you when you go. They may stop you from doing what God say. You’ve got to be careful about where you go and whom you take with you. God wants our offering. He wants an offering of thanksgiving, our offering of praise, our offering of sacrifice, giving up what we love most. He wants us to be submitted, giving up everything, our offering of submission. He wants us to give him an offering through total surrenderance. Lose the reign of your life and let God, build an altar, and get in the presence of God, stay close to God and flow with your purpose. Let’s stay within the realm of self-control or temperance. God’s spirit gives you control. If God has given you control through his spirit, why let somebody or something else drive you. They will change your nature, and instead of being kind, you’ll be mean, instead of being gentle, being considerate, kind, patient, not harsh, severe or violent, but managing these through gentleness and after these your moral excellence, will make you socially correct, proper and able to be counted on through your goodness. Why let somebody kill your fruits, why let somebody steal your fruits, why let somebody cause your fruits to be rotten, a tree that’s planted and rooted in Christ. Jesus can only produce the fruits that God has already placed in your heart. Just work on good fruit; work on those fruits that edify God. Work on those things that God would be glorified in. Offer him that praise of worship, worshipping him in a spirit of praise. Kill that old mean and ugly spirit within you. Worshipping and praising him will bring you to a state of submission, a state of sweetness, a state of tenderness, a state of obedience, it will help you to have some self control, to be in control of those old lusts, those things that you go after that’s not godly, whatever the eye see, you want, whatever the body feel, you give it to it. That old pride that keeps you puffed up, can’t anybody tell you anything. The Devil is a lie. Live the Gospel.
Be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind that ye might prove what is that good and perfect and acceptable will of God. Your main goal should be to challenge the pattern of the world through your committed life in Christ. Romans 12:10 tells you to be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love in honor, preferring one another, to be of the same mind one towards another. Mind not high things but condescend to men of low estate, be not wise in your own conceits, those thought, those ideas, those opinions; conceits is one’s too high opinion of one’s ability, their worth or personality. As the mind is changed and renewed through Bible Study, Prayer, Fasting and Fellowship with other believers, our life transforms to be like Jesus.
Romans 12:18 tell us that as much as be possible that lies in you, live peaceably with all men. We have to be different we have to make the difference. We dare to differ. One thing that sets us as believers apart for God’s service, occurs when the believer stops conforming to the world, be not conformed to this world, but live the gospel everyday, let gentleness show forth in your life, let kindness show forth in your life, let temperance or self control show forth in your life. Somebody should see God through the fruits that is amplified in your life each and everyday.
Don’t just be in the gospel in word only, but live The Gospel.
