Prayers
6/19/12 6:17 PM
My hand is Thy Hand!
Lord, this is my hand,
The right hand, you have given me.
Lord, this hand is your Hand!
It's your hand in which I make an agreement with people,
an agreement of peace, of justice and of love.
Oh Lord! I know that this is Thy Hand and the work of Thy Hand.
Give me the strength not to lift up my hand
against my brother,
against my enemy,
against those that conspire against me.
I leave it to You, Oh God - but rather help me
To open a door, remove a hurdle, and wipe a tear.
Grant me not to lift up my hand in anger,
but in peace.
not to hold anyone in captivity,
but to unlock the key to perpetual liberty.
Lord! Help me to use my hand,
to point people in the right direction.
To bless them and not to curse them.
To embrace them, and not push them away.
Lord! Guide me so I may never lift up a drink and drive,
Guide me to use my hand to hold others firm in my friendship,
To use it not in the carrying of a gun against an innocent man,
but to defend my country against the shedding of innocent blood.
Oh God of my humanity,
Let me use it to give someone his need, and
To use it to plant a tree.
Let me use it to reach out and to cast away all my fears.
Help me use it never to sign a death warrant, a deceitful contract...
Not to sign an instrument of debt, but a blank check to those in need.
Help me to use it to work my daily chores,
To relieve others in the increase of thy bounty.
Oh God, it is but a hand, but a hand can either be:
An instrument of evil, or an instrument of good.
It's my choice, and I chose to sign this agreement with You.
I will lift up my hand as an instrument of peace,
And You lift me up as an instrument of good.
I will do the same with my eyes, ears and all of my senses.
Every part of my body, every organ, every nerve, and every vein...
Just please help me control my senses, so I may take no pleasure in self gratification, self aggrandizement, self service and self realization.
The only pleasure I do seek is to take no pleasure but in Thee.
One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple. (Psalm 27:4 ESV)
