Encouragement
His Jewels (Malachi 3:16-18)
“Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another, and the Lord listened and heard them. So a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the Lord and who meditate on His name. They shall be Mine says the Lord of hosts, on the day that I make them My jewels. And I will spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him. Then you shall again discern between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve Him.” (NKJV)
The third chapter of the book of Malachi is a mixed bouquet. It is about the judgment of God, about tithing, and also carries today’s portion of Scripture which is a reminder of the love of our Father God. It is a reminder of the fact that God hears every word we speak, and we would all be more careful of our words if we kept this in mind! (Matthew 12:36 tells us that one day we will have to give account for every carelessly spoken word.)
I am sure we would all stop and listen to a conversation if we happened to hear our names mentioned, and the Lord is no different! When His kids speak about Him, not only does He stop and listen, but He has it recorded as an eternal keepsake, in the same way that the Old Testament kings recorded the good done for and to them by people in their kingdom. These were people who ‘feared the Lord’. In a time when the land was filled with every kind of sin and rebellion against the standards of God, He watched the remnant who were faithful to Him. His heart was pleased with how they continued to meet and exhort and encourage each other by talking about the goodness of God. These were people who loved and revered His name, and God called them His ‘jewels’.
Let us hear what Daddy God wants to tell us from these verses of His Word:
The Lord wants you to know that He is always with you and He is pleased with you! You may be someone who is experiencing discouragement at the present time. Perhaps you are one of the many people who have faithfully followed the Lord for many years, and walked in His Word but you sometimes feel like you are unnoticed and unrewarded. Know that God sees your faithfulness and your love for Him. He hears the many times you encourage and exhort His children, and how much you reach out to those who are as yet outside the family of God. He hears your every conversation. He sees how much you revere and honor and bring glory to His name. Be assured that no act of kindness you have done has ever gone unnoticed. No seed you have sowed will be without a harvest. The Lord sees your heart and it delights Him! He sees how you stand for Him although surrounded by the unbelief and disobedience of the world, and it pleases Him. There is a page in the “book of remembrance” for each day of your life. The times we mess things up and come to God in repentance, we are cleansed by the precious blood of Jesus, and the record wiped out. I believe each page is filled with good things because parents always see the best in their kids and that is true of our Daddy God too! He sees us as righteous and pure and filled with His love. He sees us through the perfect blood of Jesus.
The Father says you and I are set apart for Him! We were purchased with the very precious blood of Jesus from the jaws of hell and eternal damnation. He says that there will be a distinction on the day of judgment. On that last day when there will be chaos, fire and lightning, those who are His will have nothing to fear, because as a man spares his own son, they will be spared by God the Father. 2 Timothy 2:19 says that “The Lord knows those who are His”. We dwell in the shadow of His wings.
You are very precious to the Lord. He calls you His “jewels”. Deuteronomy 7:6 says that God has chosen us to be His “special treasure” and this is so awesome! Jewels are normally worn, shown off, and admired. They are protected and kept safe from thieves. They may be polished and maintained so that they stay beautiful. Jewels have a high monetary value, and often also a high sentimental value to the owner because of who may have given it to them, and the Almighty El Shaddai, the Lord and Creator of all the universe calls us His Jewels. We were given to Him by His own beloved Son, Jesus, who gave His sinless body and His holy blood as the purchase price for us. We belong to Him and no other. We are each very precious to Him and cherished by Him. He calls us the apple of His eye (Psalm 17:8), and we are treasured by Him, and a joy in His sight!
Meditate on His name. Friend, the compound names of God are powerful and release healing (Jehovah Raphe), provision (Jehovah Jireh), peace (Jehovah Shalom), and everything else we need into our lives. The name of Jesus (which means “God save us”) is higher than every other name, and is our source of life, strength and victory. It is our covering and our protection, and the key to the heart of the Father when we pray. We carry His name - we are His treasures and worn as jewels around His neck, the ring upon His finger. You are a fully adopted child of God who bears His name, and you can call upon it any time. You own His name! Take time to focus on the power in His name.
May you walk daily in the revelation of God’s extreme love for you, and how He sees you – as precious, as pure, as someone He cherishes and protects and grows. He knows who you are and what’s going on in your life. You are a very precious and treasured jewel in His sight!

WoW, when I read the part about He hears every word we speak, I had to stop and think. This was a great article. It makes me want to stop and think before I speak and give my words to God. God Bless
