“Then the seventy returned with joy, saying “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name. And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you”.
The disciples of Jesus returned from a mission trip elated and excited by all the miracles they experienced! They saw the power of the name of Jesus, and how His light shatters the darkness. They saw that although demons had kept people sick and bound, the power of the name of Jesus set them free.
When Jesus said “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven” He referred to the pre-Genesis reality of Satan’s fall when Lucifer the worship angel was cast out of heaven. He was also affirming the eternal reality which is our truth today – that Satan has no power in heaven and only a limited rule on earth. God is almighty, which means that He holds all might, and the enemy has none.
This message is for all you precious kids of the King who have been coping with the attacks of the enemy. Receive the Word of the Lord for you today – Jesus has already overcome all the powers of the evil one. We get to read the end of the story and we win, so be encouraged that whatever you are going through right now, your battle has to end, and you will be victorious, in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen! The thief came to steal, kill and destroy, but Jesus has come to give life and give it more abundantly.
Colossians 2:15 talks about Jesus when it says: “Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it”. This verse is based on the war imagery of the day, where the generals of a conquering army would make a public display of the leaders of the losing side and strip them of all their medals or honors as a statement of their defeated position. When Jesus arose from the grave, he took away the enemy’s power over us. Our battles are very real today but only as much as we believe the voice of the enemy. The blood of Jesus is sufficient for our overcoming, but which voice do we choose to believe – the voice of Jesus saying “it is finished” or the voice of the devil sent to steal, kill and destroy?
Dear friend, receive these words to strengthen and encourage you.
1)Your battle is not with flesh and blood (Ephesians 6:12: “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”) This means we can overcome through worship, prayer, fasting and standing on the Word of God.
2)The battle belongs to the Lord (2 Chronicles 20:15: “Thus says the LORD to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.”) The Bible is full of wonderful accounts of Heaven fighting on behalf of the children of God. God is still intervening in the lives of His children, stepping in to defeat the enemy on their behalf.
3)God will cause you to have the last word and the victory. (2 Corinthians 2:14: “Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.”)
4)Refuse to believe the devil. He is your enemy and a liar. (These are the words of Jesus from John 8:44: “He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.”) He may tell you that you are sick and suffering, but the Word of God tells you (Isaiah 53) that you are healed; he may tell you that you are a loser but God’s Word tells you (Romans 8:37) “We are more than conquerors”; he may tell you that God does not love you and has left you alone but Hebrews 13:5 and Deuteronomy 31:6 tell us that He will never leave us nor forsake us.
Dear child of the Almighty, be encouraged that God is on your side and fighting on your behalf even though it may not seem that way to you right now. As Jesus said to His disciples, He says to you today that He has given you ALL authority to trample on ALL the powers of the enemy. He also assures us that NOTHING shall harm us. This is His will for us – that we walk in His power and authority, knowing who we are in Christ. He has also made it possible for us not to suffer retaliatory harm as we take our stand and BELIEVE in the power of God, without any fear.
Precious one, just call on the name of the Lord, and “He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence” (Psalm 91:3). He has set His love upon you and will deliver you. (Psalm 91:14). He will send angels to help you and protect you (Psalm 91:11 &12). He is your refuge and strength, and your very present help in trouble, so do not fear. (Psalm 46:1). So however bad things may seem to be, hold on to these words from Psalm 46:5: “God is in the midst of her (or him), she (he) shall not be moved; God shall help her/him just at the break of dawn.” Just when you think you have no strength left, and that the darkness is too much, there will be the beautiful and welcome breaking of the dawn – breakthrough!
May this word from heaven lift you up and fill you with new hope and new strength. God is on your side, and together you are a mighty majority! He has given you all power and all authority! Be blessed, be whole, be filled with Abba’s love and peace, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
