There is no greater picture of rejection than the broken and bloody body of Christ. He was rejected by the ones He loved beyond anything our finite human minds can comprehend. He carried the shame of all of the world’s sin on His shoulders only to be spit on by the masses. Yet He, seemingly defeated and dead, triumphed through love and paid the ultimate debt for us. Through His rejection man can once again be embraced by God and stand in awe in His holy presence.
Fellow followers of Christ, do not be distraught when the world with its standards and measurements rejects you. It is all too simple to get caught up in the daily grind and lose our focus on what really matters. With our heads hung low and our eyes on the ground it is easy to run into a wall and feel the intense pain of rejection. But with our eyes pointed to the sky and God’s holy word illuminating the path in front of us, when we run into those secular walls we can recognize God’s sovereignty and tread onward knowing He is in control.
We, as Christians, should never live in fear of rejection but rather we should follow the example of Christ and sacrifice our personal comfort for the greater good of God’s immortal kingdom. Only then can we be truly fulfilled and rejection becomes an afterthought of living for Christ. That is all that truly matters!
