When God sent His dear Son,
Then Christ fulfilled the law of love
With death for everyone.
Our first law is to love the Lord
The very best we can.
The second is important, too:
To love our fellowman.
Some people we love easily,
While others, not as much,
But God can melt all hate away
With just a tender touch.
Some folks exude a friendliness.
They’re open, warm, and kind,
And that’s how Christians should appear,
The way the Lord designed.
When Jesus came to earth, He lived
A life of doing good.
By His example, we’re to live
A life of servanthood.
To carry others’ burdens is
The next law to fulfill.
We cannot do this on our own,
But with God’s help, we will.
And when we love like Jesus does,
Abiding in His light,
We thus fulfill the law of love.
We’re pleasing in God’s sight.
