The Bible tells us," Behold, I stand at the door, and knock." If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him and he with Me." (Revelation 3:20, NKJV).
That scripture verse inspired the artist, so he decided to paint his inspiration. Immediately, he got down to work and, step by step, did as he was inspired to do. When he completed the work and looked at his handiwork, he was overwhelmed by its awesomeness.
He decided to put it in the hall of fame, but before any work of excellence goes there, it must go through the hall of critics, where the critics look at the painting intensely before deciding.
They thought it was an excellent piece of art. Christ looked so real, and he painted the door of the heart perfectly, but the lock was missing.
The critics asked the artist, "Why would Christ be knocking at the door if there is no lock on the door?"
The artist replied, "I painted it thus. In this door, the lock is inside. The one who is inside has to unlock the door so Christ can come in."
Christ could only knock, but we have to trust Him to open the door of our hearts so He can come in and dine with us; opening our hearts is an act of trust and willingness.
Let us not turn Him away today because He is still knocking at our heart doors. Even now, let us open the door and invite Him in. Inviting Him into our hearts is our first step of faith.
So let us respond to His call. Opening our hearts' door signifies our willingness to accept His presence and guidance.
