And when to leave?
Friendship is a powerful tool
To misuse it would make you a fool
A friend has your back
There is never a lack
Of support in your life and work
And they’re never a jerk!
But friendship is a two-way street
There for each other
Each sister and brother
No matter what comes their way
When problems won’t go away
And if she’s closer than a sister
He’s closer than a brother
You can think of no other
Who’s been more faithful to you
It may be time to cleave
When you‘re grasping for aid
Fear can be a blade
Slicing your friendship apart
Stabbing the heart
But if you know you are willing
To stand by their side
And by their morals
You can abide
It may be time to cleave
There may come a time
When you realize
That the ties
Between you and a friend
Must end
You don’t desert a friend
Just because they’re in trouble
And their life is a rubble
Of woes
But if they’re pulling you from God
And pulling you from church
And when you need them the most
They leave you in the lurch
It may be time to leave.
Sometimes a friendship is beyond repair
Or so we think
It’s about to sink
But what if we dare
To care
Ask God
He is your guide
He will show who should be at your side
And whether to cleave or leave.
